Natal chart reference
Mars opposite Saturn
Mars opposite Saturn describes a contrast between pursuing an immediate aim and maintaining a commitment. Attention can alternate between urgency and restraint. A natal opposition places both functions in the same person, even when a disagreement with someone else makes the contrast easier to notice.

Find the aspects in my chartImmediate action and lasting commitments need separate attention
Mars asks what action is needed now; Saturn asks what can be maintained afterward. Giving every urgent task priority can displace an existing obligation. Treating every obligation as fixed can prevent a necessary change. The opposition invites a reading of both demands before assigning one side the blame.
Read the signs together
Mars at 12° Libra and Saturn at 14° Aries are 178° apart. Libra gives Mars attention to how an action affects an agreement; Aries gives Saturn a task around independent responsibility. Someone sharing a workspace might want to help with an urgent group task while protecting time already promised elsewhere.
Naming the existing commitment makes it possible to discuss how much help is available. Assuming another person is the Saturn figure would skip their own chart and circumstances. A natal opposition cannot establish a relationship dynamic or another person's intentions.
Check the measured angle
The example uses longitudes 192° and 14°. Their shorter separation is 178°, giving an orb of 2° from the exact 180° angle.
Synthetic positions for teaching, not a recorded birth chart.
Astriel uses the smaller of the two bodies' major-aspect limits: 6° for Mars and 5° for Saturn. A 5° orb is included; a larger orb is excluded. Sign names alone cannot establish the contact.
Compare the natal orb rulesUse the houses to name the subject
Across calculated Placidus houses 1 and 7, personal initiative connects with partnership agreements. Across houses 4 and 10, home priorities connect with public responsibility. Opposite signs alone do not establish which houses contain the planets.
Other aspects can support or complicate the same topic. A Mars-Saturn trine can coexist with a Mars-Uranus square. Neither contact removes the other.

Birth-time uncertainty and motion
A conditional aspect meets the selected limit for only part of the possible birth-time interval. Keep the orb range and status shown in your result.
Applying means the orb is decreasing; separating means it is increasing. Both bodies' calculated motion matters, including Saturn's retrograde motion. A still diagram cannot supply that direction.
How uncertain times are handledA natal aspect is different from a Saturn transit
This guide compares positions in one birth chart. A Saturn transit compares moving Saturn with a saved natal position and needs a chosen date.
