Date of birth

Use the local birth date in the modern (Gregorian) calendar, from 1600 to today.

Time of birth

Local birth time. For 2:30 pm, enter 14:30.

If the end is at or before the start, the range ends the next day. Equal times cover a full day.

Placidus uses your birth time to calculate unequal houses. Whole Sign gives each sign one house. Both need an exact time.

Read a placement in three parts

The planet describes a function, such as the Moon's emotional needs. The sign describes its style. The house adds a topic, such as home, work or relationships.

For example, Moon in Taurus in the 10th combines a preference for steadiness with the topic of public work and responsibility. Taurus supplies the style; the 10th house supplies the setting. Neither placement alone describes the whole person.

Aspects connect the placements

An aspect is an angular relationship between two chart factors. Moon trine Mercury connects emotional responses with thinking and communication. The trine describes ease between those functions; a square would describe friction.

Start with the Sun, Moon and rising sign, then follow the placement and aspect links in your result. Each guide explains the concept with a chart example.

Which houses the calculator uses

Astriel defaults to Placidus, with calculated house boundaries based on the birth time and location. You can also choose Whole Sign, where each complete sign forms one house. The same planet can occupy different houses under these methods.

Approximate or unknown birth times leave the Ascendant and houses unavailable. Planetary results show any sign changes across the selected period. Choose the uncertainty you have rather than guessing a time.

Calculation method and available factors

Planetary positions use the tropical zodiac. The birthplace and historical time-zone rules convert the local birth time for the calculation. The result includes the applied time-zone offset and method details.

Placidus houses are unavailable at polar latitudes. Chiron is not yet computed. Read the calculation methods and benchmark limits for the supported factors and accuracy checks.
