Cancer and Sagittarius compatibility
Cancer and Sagittarius emphasize belonging and exploration in different ways. Cancer is cardinal water, actively cultivating care. Sagittarius is mutable fire, pursuing a wider experience. A new direction can be exciting while also changing the familiar conditions through which a relationship has been maintained.

Cancer's emphasis
Cancer notices the rituals that keep contact personal. Preserving one can make a transition less disorienting. Care does not require every part of an old routine to remain unchanged.

Sagittarius sees what a new setting makes possible. Explaining its purpose can help others understand the choice. Enthusiasm for leaving does not explain how existing relationships will be sustained.

Two readings of the same moment
A friend moves abroad and expects the friendship to continue naturally. The friend staying home misses their regular Sunday conversations. Neither has discussed what contact will look like across time zones.
Make the difference specific
Choose a realistic way to stay in touch, including how to handle missed calls. Leave room for the new life while making the continued bond concrete enough that neither person has to infer it from silence.
Both themes can belong to one person
A Sagittarius Sun with a Cancer Moon can seek unfamiliar experiences and still need familiar contact for reassurance. Independence and attachment can describe different functions in one natal chart.
In a two-chart reading, keep each planet attached to its owner. A Sun-Moon contact compares personal direction with emotional needs. A Venus-Mars contact compares affection with initiative.
Read the planet contactsA quincunx is a measured 150° angle
These signs share neither element nor modality. Modern astrologers often read their contrast through adjustment. That symbolism does not establish incompatibility or a need to keep compromising against your wishes.
A planet at 10° Cancer and another at 12° Sagittarius have a smaller separation of 152°, 2° from an exact quincunx. Astriel's synastry calculator currently reports the five major aspects, not quincunxes.
At 1° Cancer and 29° Sagittarius, the smaller separation is 178°. That is an opposition with a 2° orb, within Astriel's 6° opposition limit. Read that measured contact separately from the sign comparison.
These are synthetic positions. The calculator checks actual degrees and birth-time uncertainty. Sign symbolism cannot establish attraction, consent or the future of a relationship.

The sign comparison follows the owner-supplied astrology reference's element and modality definitions and sign themes. Examples are original. Advice about discussing preferences is an illustration, not a finding about the people whose charts you enter.
Orb limits come from Astriel's calculation method. Symbolic interpretation is separate from calculated geometry.
