Zodiac boundaries
One Sun. One sign.
Near a sign change, your birth year and time matter. The Sun belongs to the sign containing its calculated degree. Being born near the boundary does not give it two signs.

A date range cannot settle every birthday
The Sun enters each tropical sign at a particular moment. That moment falls at a different clock time each year. Time zones can also place it on different local dates.
A birth date without its year cannot settle a boundary case. An unknown birth time can leave two possible signs when the Sun changes signs during the possible birth period.
Sign boundaries and house cusps are different
Signs divide the zodiac into twelve equal 30° intervals. A house cusp marks the beginning of a house. Astriel uses Placidus by default, with unequal houses calculated from the birth time and location.
A planet can be close to both kinds of boundary. Read its calculated sign and house separately.
