Natal chart reference
Sun conjunct Mars
Sun conjunct Mars connects personal direction with the impulse to act. An aim can feel closely tied to the effort used to pursue it. The conjunction concentrates those functions; it does not establish courage, aggression or physical stamina.

Find the aspects in my chartA personal aim quickly becomes something to act on
The Sun gives an undertaking a personal reason. Mars supplies the push to begin, persist or defend a position. When they occupy nearby degrees, a challenge to the method can feel like a challenge to the aim itself. Separating the purpose from the current tactic creates room to revise the tactic.
Read the signs together
The Sun at 28° Aries and Mars at 1° Taurus are 3° apart, across a sign boundary. Aries gives the Sun an independent starting point; Taurus gives Mars a sustained pace. A maker could begin a project on their own initiative, then prefer to develop one version thoroughly before changing it.
The first impulse and the working rhythm need not be identical. A useful revision can preserve the original purpose while changing the process. A conjunction joins nearby longitudes, not necessarily matching signs or identical styles.
Check the measured angle
The example uses longitudes 28° and 31°. Their shorter separation is 3°, giving an orb of 3° from the exact 0° angle.
Synthetic positions for teaching, not a recorded birth chart.
Astriel uses the smaller of the two bodies' major-aspect limits: 8° for the Sun and 6° for Mars. A 6° orb is included; a larger orb is excluded. Sign names alone cannot establish the contact.
Compare the natal orb rulesUse the houses to name the subject
If both planets occupy calculated Placidus house 5, a creative undertaking supplies their shared setting. If a cusp separates houses 4 and 5, private priorities and creative expression become distinct topics. Nearby planets need not share a house.
Other aspects can support or complicate the same topic. A Sun-Mars trine can coexist with a Sun-Saturn square. Neither contact removes the other.

Birth-time uncertainty and motion
A conditional aspect meets the selected limit for only part of the possible birth-time interval. Keep the orb range and status shown in your result.
Applying means the orb is decreasing; separating means it is increasing. Both bodies' calculated motion matters, including Mars's retrograde motion. A still diagram cannot supply that direction.
How uncertain times are handledA natal aspect is different from a Mars transit
This guide compares positions in one birth chart. A Mars transit compares moving Mars with a saved natal position and needs a chosen date.

Interpretation uses Astriel's owner-supplied astrology reference, Part IV, Sun-Mars and major aspects. We use its connection between purpose, initiative and competing demands. Claims about family conflict, health or inevitable aggression are not treated as facts about the reader.
Numerical examples and everyday scenarios are original. Orb limits follow Astriel's calculation rules. These symbolic interpretations do not establish personality or predict events. Reviewed 21 September 2026.
