Sun conjunct Venus

Sun conjunct Venus connects personal direction with values and pleasure in astrological interpretation. What someone appreciates can become part of how they express themselves. The sign describes the style of that connection; the house adds its subject.

What is valued becomes part of self-expression

The Sun describes purpose and identity; Venus describes preferences and relating. A conjunction combines those functions. A personal choice can express both a sense of self and a judgment about what is worth enjoying or preserving.

A worked chart example

With the Sun at 10° Aries and Venus at 14° Aries, self-expression and preference share an independent style. Choosing a project personally can matter as much as enjoying the result. Compare both bodies in Libra: fairness and the relationship between people would receive more attention.

Check the angle before interpreting it

Sun at 10 degrees Aries and Venus at 14 degrees Aries are 4 degrees apart. The conjunction orb is 4 degrees.

These are synthetic longitudes. Subtract the smaller longitude from the larger, then use the shorter distance around the 360-degree circle.

The conjunction angle is 0 degrees, so its orb equals that shorter distance. An orb of 6 degrees or less qualifies under Astriel's natal rules.

The Sun at 29 degrees Pisces and Venus at 2 degrees Aries are only 3 degrees apart. Different signs can still form a conjunction.

Two placements in the same sign can be too far apart. The Sun at 1 degree Aries and Venus at 15 degrees Aries have a 14-degree separation.

Why this pair has no natal square or opposition

Venus orbits inside Earth's orbit. Seen from Earth, its greatest angular separation from the Sun is about 47 degrees.

NASA's explanation of Venus at greatest elongation explains this orbital limit.

Among the five major natal angles, this pair can form a conjunction. The other major angles are beyond its separation range, including Astriel's allowed orbs.

Minor aspects use separate angles and limits. A missing conjunction does not mean the chart is missing something.

Synastry compares positions from different birth charts, so this same-time restriction does not apply to those comparisons.

Read the contact with its chart context

Venus can also form other aspects while conjunct the Sun. A square to Saturn would add questions about limits or commitment to the reading. It would coexist with the Sun-Venus connection, rather than replacing it.

Unknown birth time and conditional contacts

Use the status and orb range printed in your chart. A conditional contact fits only part of the possible birth-time interval.

Do not choose a birth time because an interpretation sounds familiar. An exact-time input cannot verify the original birth record.

Does this show compatibility with another person?

No. This contact belongs to one birth chart. Comparing two charts requires both sets of birth details, and even that comparison cannot establish relationship success.

Does a closer conjunction mean a stronger personality trait?

A smaller orb means a closer geometric fit. It does not measure the strength of a personality trait or prove that an interpretation applies.

Applying and separating labels describe the change in orb at the calculated instant. They require motion data, not only sign names.

Sources and editorial limits

Cafe Astrology's Sun conjunct Venus reference supplies the brief conventional symbolism. Worked comparisons also draw on Astriel's astrology reference, Part IV, Sun-Mercury and Sun-Venus interpretations.

The conjunction cannot establish attractiveness or predict romantic success. Another person's consent and feelings cannot be inferred from it.

We do not adopt personality diagnoses, gender stereotypes or predictions of life outcomes. The astronomical source supports the orbital explanation, not personal interpretation.
