The Sun on December 21, year by year

These positions are all calculated for 12:00 UT. The degree changes between years, even when the sign stays the same.

Positions are shown to the arcminute. A birth before or after noon has a different degree. UT and your local calendar date can differ.

Reading Sun in Sagittarius

Sun in Sagittarius is associated with seeking a purpose you can believe in. Study or an unfamiliar experience can change what you want your life to stand for. A conviction stays useful when you can revise it after learning something new.

Sagittarius is mutable fire. Fire concerns direction and enthusiasm; mutable describes movement between possibilities. The combination can be read through searching for an explanation that connects individual experiences.

A broad explanation can give purpose to difficult work. It can also overlook an exception that deserves attention. The interpretive tension concerns how conviction remains open to correction, rather than whether the person is optimistic in every situation.

This lesson follows the noon reference position. Confirm your personal Sun sign before applying it to your chart.

The same birthday can produce different charts

The Moon and other planets move independently of the Sun. People born on December 21 in different years can have different Moon signs and planetary aspects.

Birth time and location also change the Ascendant and houses. Astriel uses Placidus: the Sun's house follows its position between calculated cusps. Its zodiac sign alone cannot supply a house number.

If the birth time is unknown, choose that option in the calculator. A date crossing a sign boundary can leave the Sun sign unresolved; houses remain unavailable.
