Chaldean name calculator

Calculate a name number with the Chaldean letter table and inspect each name part and reduction.

The number is a symbolic reference. It cannot establish your character or predict what changing a name will do.

Choose the spelling you want to examine. You do not need to enter a legal name.

Use A–Z letters with spaces, apostrophes or hyphens. Each space-separated part needs a letter. Limit: 80 letters and 120 characters.

Next, enter your email to save and open your result.

See what contributes to the result

Each name part gets a letter total and a single-digit reduction. We add those reduced values, then reduce again.

The letter table

Latin letters and their assigned values
ValueLetters
1A · I · J · Q · Y
2B · K · R
3C · G · L · S
4D · M · T
5E · H · N · X
6U · V · W
7O · Z
8F · P

No letter is assigned 9, but a total can reduce to 9. This convention reduces 11, 22 and 33 too.

Example: Lloyd George

In Cheiro's example, Lloyd totals 18 and reduces to 9. George totals 25 and reduces to 7. Adding 9 + 7 gives 16, then 1 + 6 gives 7.

The all-letter total is 43. We show it separately so it cannot be mistaken for the combined total of 16.

Read the single-digit themes

These brief associations follow Cheiro's number symbolism. The examples describe ways to understand each theme; they are not personality findings from a name.

1 · Independent initiative

Associated with Sun in this tradition.

A shared project needs a starting point. One person proposes a first draft, then asks the others to revise it. This distinguishes taking initiative from controlling every decision.

2 · Imagination and sensitivity

Associated with Moon in this tradition.

An illustrator notices that a scene feels tense and tries a softer arrangement. The useful distinction is between responding to an impression and assuming that the impression is a fact.

3 · Ambition and authority

Associated with Jupiter in this tradition.

A group appoints someone to coordinate a project. That person can clarify responsibilities while keeping the plan open to correction. A title and the quality of a decision remain separate.

4 · An unconventional viewpoint

Associated with Uranus in this tradition.

A familiar routine takes too long. Someone questions its purpose and proposes a smaller version. Testing the alternative makes the challenge useful; disagreement alone does not improve the routine.

5 · Adaptability and quick decisions

Associated with Mercury in this tradition.

A plan changes at short notice. Someone compares the remaining options and chooses one. The tension is between responding quickly and skipping a check that still matters.

6 · Affection and aesthetic care

Associated with Venus in this tradition.

A host arranges a comfortable room for a visitor. Asking what the visitor prefers makes care specific. An attractive setting and an agreement between people are different things.

7 · Individuality and exploration

Associated with Neptune in this tradition.

A reader studies an unfamiliar tradition and compares its claims with their own experience. Curiosity can open a question while leaving the answer unsettled.

8 · Persistence and responsibility

Associated with Saturn in this tradition.

Someone keeps a long project moving through regular maintenance. Taking responsibility also means identifying what the available time can support. Perseverance does not require an unlimited commitment.

9 · Courage and direct action

Associated with Mars in this tradition.

A person raises an unresolved problem at a meeting and proposes a concrete next step. Direct action can address the problem without treating every disagreement as a fight.

Cheiro's Book of Numbers, chapters III–XI (PDF) supplies the associations. The examples are original Astriel teaching.

Planet names here are symbolic references. They do not supply natal positions, house placements or evidence that numerology and astrology confirm one another.

Choose the spelling deliberately

You can use a familiar name, a pen name or a sample word. Each spelling is a separate input; this tool does not decide which name represents you.

How spelling changes the calculation

Spaces separate name parts. Apostrophes and hyphens stay inside a part and contribute no value. For example, Anne-Marie is one part and Anne Marie is two.

We show the spelling in capitals and normalize curly apostrophes and two common hyphen variants. We do not remove accents or transliterate another alphabet. If needed, enter an A–Z spelling you choose yourself.

Changing letters can change the final number. Regrouping the same letters changes intermediate totals but preserves the final single digit in this method.

How this differs from life path

A life-path calculation uses date digits. This tool uses letters and reduces every name part to one digit, including 11, 22 and 33.

The traditions are separate. Similar-looking results do not provide independent evidence about a person.

Calculate a life-path number
Method source and limits

The letter values and word-by-word example follow Cheiro's Book of Numbers, chapter XII (PDF). We do not adopt its claims about destiny, lucky dates or the effects of changing a name.

Other calculators can add every letter before reduction. With the same letter values and reduction to one digit, the final digit agrees. Compound totals can differ. Spelling handling is Astriel's explicit product rule.
