Moon and Venus aspects

Moon-Venus aspects compare emotional needs with affection, enjoyment and personal values. They distinguish what helps someone feel settled from what they find appealing. Start with the measured contact, then use the signs and houses to make the comparison specific.

Choose the contact in your result

The Moon and Venus can form all five major angles. Each guide uses the same 6-degree natal limit. The measured separation decides which contact appears.

If no major Moon-Venus aspect appears

The separation can fall between the selected limits. Astriel also checks semisextile and quincunx with separate 2-degree limits.

A missing contact is not evidence of a missing capacity or an incomplete chart.

Keep the rest of the chart in view

The Moon describes emotional needs and familiar responses; Venus describes values, enjoyment and affection. Signs describe the style of each function. Houses identify the topics where they operate.

A Moon-Venus opposition across the 4th and 10th houses connects private life with public responsibilities. Across the 2nd and 8th, it connects personal resources with shared commitments. The angle stays the same, while the subjects change.

Unknown birth time and conditional contacts

Use the orb range and status in the calculated result. A conditional contact meets the selected rule for only part of the possible birth-time interval.

A contact can hold throughout that interval while its orb changes. Keep the uncertainty instead of choosing a birth time to fit an interpretation.

Applying and separating

Applying means that the orb is decreasing at the calculated instant. Separating means that it is increasing. The Moon’s motion and Venus’s motion both matter; Venus can also be retrograde.

The angle alone cannot identify that direction. Use the calculated motion label when the birth time supports one.

Does this describe chemistry with someone else?

No. A natal Moon-Venus contact compares two positions in one person's chart. Synastry compares two charts and requires both sets of birth details.

A natal contact does not establish compatibility, attachment history or what another person feels. Those questions require information about the people and their actual relationship.

Sources and editorial limits

Interpretive themes draw on Astriel’s astrology reference, Part II (Moon and Venus) and Part IV (major aspects and the Moon–Venus pair). Worked scenarios and numerical examples are original teaching material.

We use the distinction between emotional needs and relating. Source claims about popularity, artistic ability or a person’s family history are not treated as established facts. These angles do not scientifically determine personality.

Orb examples follow Astriel’s natal calculation rules, not the reference’s suggested weighting tiers. Astriel editorial · Reviewed 2026-09-20.
