Natal chart reference
Sun square Jupiter
Sun square Jupiter describes friction between personal aims and the wish to expand them. Confidence can support a demanding goal while also making its requirements easy to underestimate. The useful question is how the proposed scale compares with available time and resources.

Find the aspects in my chartThe scale of an ambition needs testing
The square connects two priorities that do not settle into agreement automatically. The Sun wants an aim to feel personally meaningful; Jupiter wants room for something larger. Increasing the size of a commitment can seem like proof of belief in it. Testing a smaller version can provide information about what a larger version would require.
Read the signs together
The Sun at 12° Leo and Jupiter at 14° Scorpio are 92° apart. Leo gives the Sun attention to personal authorship; Scorpio gives Jupiter a wish to investigate the subject thoroughly. A documentary maker could plan a short film, then keep adding interviews because each opens another question.
More material can improve the film, but it also changes the work of selecting and editing. A defined question gives each interview a purpose. The square does not prove wastefulness, arrogance or poor judgment; those require evidence about actual choices.
Check the measured angle
The example uses longitudes 132° and 224°. Their shorter separation is 92°, giving an orb of 2° from the exact 90° angle.
Synthetic positions for teaching, not a recorded birth chart.
Astriel uses the smaller of the two bodies' major-aspect limits: 8° for the Sun and 5° for Jupiter. A 5° orb is included; a larger orb is excluded. Sign names alone cannot establish the contact.
Compare the natal orb rulesUse the houses to name the subject
Across calculated Placidus houses 5 and 8, a creative ambition can meet questions about shared funding or obligations. Across houses 2 and 5, personal resources connect with creative scope. Use the calculated houses before naming the area of overextension.
Other aspects can support or complicate the same topic. A Sun-Jupiter trine can coexist with a Sun-Saturn square. Neither contact removes the other.

Birth-time uncertainty and motion
A conditional aspect meets the selected limit for only part of the possible birth-time interval. Keep the orb range and status shown in your result.
Applying means the orb is decreasing; separating means it is increasing. Both bodies' calculated motion matters, including Jupiter's retrograde motion. A still diagram cannot supply that direction.
How uncertain times are handledA natal aspect is different from a Jupiter transit
This guide compares positions in one birth chart. A Jupiter transit compares moving Jupiter with a saved natal position and needs a chosen date.
