What this placement means
The 6th concerns recurring labor. Neptune adds the wish for that labor to serve something meaningful, alongside possible uncertainty about where responsibility ends. The tension is between a generous intention and an agreement that leaves the task undefined. This symbolism cannot diagnose illness or recommend a treatment.
A worked example
Ideals within everyday service: a chart comparison
Suppose a volunteer agrees to help at a community meal because everyone should feel welcome. The ideal has a daily setting in preparing food and clearing tables. Neptune in the 6th connects that wish to serve with the actual work, including uncertainty about when a shift ends. Neptune in the 10th would instead emphasize the public image of being a community organizer.
How this fits into your full chart
The 6th house tells you which area of life is involved: daily work and routines. Neptune brings its themes of imagination and ideals into that area. Its sign adds how those themes are expressed.
Astriel uses Placidus by default. Each house begins at a calculated boundary, called a cusp, and ends at the next cusp. Use the house number beside Neptune in your chart.
Add your Neptune sign
Find Neptune's sign in your chart's positions table and read it alongside this house placement. For instance, a planet in Aries emphasizes taking the first step; in Taurus, it emphasizes keeping a steady course.
Use the sign written beside the planet. A house can include more than one sign, so the sign at its beginning can differ from the planet's sign.

An aspect is an angle between two chart positions. Read the rows involving Neptune in your chart's aspect table. The other planet adds another need or concern to imagination and ideals.
A square is usually read as a challenge in combining those needs. A trine suggests that they work together more easily. The orb tells you how far the angle is from exact; a smaller orb means a closer contact.

The sign on the house's starting cusp has a ruling planet. Find that sign's traditional ruler, then look for the ruler in your chart. Its house connects the two areas of life.
For example, Leo on the 2nd-house cusp makes the Sun its ruler. If the Sun is in the 10th, a reading connects personal resources with public work.

What if my birth time is uncertain?
Astriel leaves houses unavailable for approximate or unknown times. A familiar description cannot resolve that uncertainty.
You can still read Neptune sign information supported by your entered birth period. Do not choose a house because its description sounds right.
Calculate the available Neptune positionWhy does another site show a different house?
Compare the entered birth details, time zone, zodiac and house system. Astriel uses Placidus by default. Its calculated cusps determine the house containing Neptune. A different house system can assign that position to another house.
Verify those settings before comparing interpretations. In Placidus, the Midheaven is the 10th cusp; a planet in that house is not automatically conjunct it.
Read the calculation methods and limitsDoes this placement make an impression reliable?
A Neptune house does not verify an impression, dream or belief. It gives a symbolic topic to examine alongside what you can observe.
Write down what you know and what remains an assumption. Another person's intentions require evidence from their words and actions.

This guide concerns Neptune in your birth chart. A current Neptune transit and another person's Neptune overlaid on your chart are different calculations.
Their house number alone does not make these readings interchangeable.
