What this placement means
The 1st concerns how a person meets the world. Uranus adds a question about which conventions remain useful and which can be changed. The tension is between expressing a considered difference and making difference itself the objective. An exact Ascendant contact adds information beyond occupying the same house.
A worked example
Independence in personal expression: a chart comparison
Uranus in the 1st Placidus house can be far from the Ascendant degree. If Uranus is also conjunct the Ascendant within the chosen orb, the interpretation gains a separate angular contact. Check the positions before treating both as present.
How this fits into your full chart
The 1st house tells you which area of life is involved: self and appearance. Uranus brings its themes of independence and change into that area. Its sign adds how those themes are expressed.
Astriel uses Placidus by default. Each house begins at a calculated boundary, called a cusp, and ends at the next cusp. Use the house number beside Uranus in your chart.
Add your Uranus sign
Find Uranus's sign in your chart's positions table and read it alongside this house placement. For instance, a planet in Aries emphasizes taking the first step; in Taurus, it emphasizes keeping a steady course.
Use the sign written beside the planet. A house can include more than one sign, so the sign at its beginning can differ from the planet's sign.

An aspect is an angle between two chart positions. Read the rows involving Uranus in your chart's aspect table. The other planet adds another need or concern to independence and change.
A square is usually read as a challenge in combining those needs. A trine suggests that they work together more easily. The orb tells you how far the angle is from exact; a smaller orb means a closer contact.
Learn to read aspects and orbsFollow the ruler of this house
The sign on the house's starting cusp has a ruling planet. Find that sign's traditional ruler, then look for the ruler in your chart. Its house connects the two areas of life.
For example, Leo on the 2nd-house cusp makes the Sun its ruler. If the Sun is in the 10th, a reading connects personal resources with public work.

What if my birth time is uncertain?
Astriel leaves houses unavailable for approximate or unknown times. A familiar description cannot resolve that uncertainty.
You can still read Uranus sign information supported by your entered birth period. Do not choose a house because its description sounds right.
Calculate the available Uranus positionWhy does another site show a different house?
Compare the entered birth details, time zone, zodiac and house system. Astriel uses Placidus by default. Its calculated cusps determine the house containing Uranus. A different house system can assign that position to another house.
Verify those settings before comparing interpretations. In Placidus, the Midheaven is the 10th cusp; a planet in that house is not automatically conjunct it.

People can share a Uranus sign while having different Placidus cusps. Birth time and location change those boundaries, so Uranus can occupy different houses.
Use the house calculated from your own birth details. A shared sign does not supply a shared house or establish a shared personality.
Read about Uranus in the birth chartIs this a natal placement or a current transit?
This guide concerns Uranus in your birth chart. A current Uranus transit and another person's Uranus overlaid on your chart are different calculations.
Their house number alone does not make these readings interchangeable.
