What this placement means
The 2nd house concerns resources that support daily life. With the Moon here, modern astrology connects emotional reassurance with what feels available and dependable. Keeping familiar possessions or maintaining a reserve are possible expressions of that symbolism.
The distinction from the 8th house is ownership. The 2nd asks what you can rely on yourself; the 8th concerns resources tied to other people. A Moon in the 2nd does not predict changing income. Its sign and aspects add context to how security is imagined and pursued.

Libra brings attention to agreement into the Moon's need for reassurance. In the 2nd house, the subject is what you personally have available. Saturn's trine adds structure: someone might enjoy choosing household items together while keeping a clear personal spending limit.
Keep this distinction
The desire to agree comes from the Libra symbolism, not from house 2 becoming a partnership house. Who owns the money matters: personal resources belong to the 2nd-house topic; jointly owed amounts introduce the 8th.
How this fits into your full chart
The 2nd house tells you which area of life is involved: personal resources. Moon brings its themes of emotional needs into that area. Its sign adds how those themes are expressed.
Astriel uses Placidus by default. Each house begins at a calculated boundary, called a cusp, and ends at the next cusp. Use the house number beside the Moon in your chart.
Add your Moon sign
Find the Moon's sign in your chart's positions table and read it alongside this house placement. For instance, a planet in Aries emphasizes taking the first step; in Taurus, it emphasizes keeping a steady course.
Use the sign written beside the planet. A house can include more than one sign, so the sign at its beginning can differ from the planet's sign.

An aspect is an angle between two chart positions. Read the rows involving the Moon in your chart's aspect table. The other planet adds another need or concern to emotional needs.
A square is usually read as a challenge in combining those needs. A trine suggests that they work together more easily. The orb tells you how far the angle is from exact; a smaller orb means a closer contact.

The sign on the house's starting cusp has a ruling planet. Find that sign's traditional ruler, then look for the ruler in your chart. Its house connects the two areas of life.
For example, Leo on the 2nd-house cusp makes the Sun its ruler. If the Sun is in the 10th, a reading connects personal resources with public work.

What if my birth time is uncertain?
Astriel leaves houses unavailable for approximate or unknown times. A familiar description cannot resolve that uncertainty.
You can still read the Moon sign information supported by your entered birth period. Do not choose a house because its description sounds right.
Calculate the available Moon sign informationWhy does another site show a different house?
Compare the entered birth details, time zone, zodiac and house system. Astriel uses Placidus by default. Its calculated cusps determine the house containing Moon. A different house system can assign that position to another house.
Verify those settings before comparing interpretations. In Placidus, the Midheaven is the 10th cusp; a planet in that house is not automatically conjunct it.

This guide concerns the Moon in your birth chart. A current Moon transit and another person's Moon overlaid on your chart are different calculations.
Their house number alone does not make these readings interchangeable.
