What this placement means
The 4th house concerns home, ancestry and private foundations. The Moon here brings the need for familiarity into those subjects. The interpretation asks what makes a place feel inhabited and safe enough to rest.
The 4th is an angular house, so its topics carry structural importance in a chart reading. That does not reveal the quality of someone's childhood or describe a parent. The Moon's sign shows a response style, while the house identifies the private setting in which to examine it.

An Aquarius Moon brings space and a wider perspective into the 4th-house topic of home. Venus in Scorpio squares it in this example, adding a different emphasis on closeness. Housemates planning a shared living room might want time together while disagreeing about how much of the home should remain private.
Keep this distinction
The house identifies the domestic subject; it does not reveal childhood events. The two planetary themes can describe a practical design question without assigning one person the role of distant or demanding partner.
How this fits into your full chart
The 4th house tells you which area of life is involved: home and family. Moon brings its themes of emotional needs into that area. Its sign adds how those themes are expressed.
Astriel uses Placidus by default. Each house begins at a calculated boundary, called a cusp, and ends at the next cusp. Use the house number beside the Moon in your chart.
Add your Moon sign
Find the Moon's sign in your chart's positions table and read it alongside this house placement. For instance, a planet in Aries emphasizes taking the first step; in Taurus, it emphasizes keeping a steady course.
Use the sign written beside the planet. A house can include more than one sign, so the sign at its beginning can differ from the planet's sign.

An aspect is an angle between two chart positions. Read the rows involving the Moon in your chart's aspect table. The other planet adds another need or concern to emotional needs.
A square is usually read as a challenge in combining those needs. A trine suggests that they work together more easily. The orb tells you how far the angle is from exact; a smaller orb means a closer contact.
Learn to read aspects and orbsFollow the ruler of this house
The sign on the house's starting cusp has a ruling planet. Find that sign's traditional ruler, then look for the ruler in your chart. Its house connects the two areas of life.
For example, Leo on the 2nd-house cusp makes the Sun its ruler. If the Sun is in the 10th, a reading connects personal resources with public work.

What if my birth time is uncertain?
Astriel leaves houses unavailable for approximate or unknown times. A familiar description cannot resolve that uncertainty.
You can still read the Moon sign information supported by your entered birth period. Do not choose a house because its description sounds right.
Calculate the available Moon sign informationWhy does another site show a different house?
Compare the entered birth details, time zone, zodiac and house system. Astriel uses Placidus by default. Its calculated cusps determine the house containing Moon. A different house system can assign that position to another house.
Verify those settings before comparing interpretations. In Placidus, the Midheaven is the 10th cusp; a planet in that house is not automatically conjunct it.

This guide concerns the Moon in your birth chart. A current Moon transit and another person's Moon overlaid on your chart are different calculations.
Their house number alone does not make these readings interchangeable.
