What the Sun brings to this house
The Sun in the 10th brings purpose into public responsibility, reputation, and the work for which someone becomes known. The reading focuses on what a person wants their contribution to represent, rather than assuming a particular job or level of success.
Visibility and authority have obligations attached to them. A useful interpretation considers both the wish to shape a role and the standards by which others judge that role. In Placidus, the Midheaven starts the 10th house. A Sun farther into the house is not automatically conjunct that degree; check the measured orb.
How the sign changes the reading
A Capricorn Sun in the 10th connects identity with taking responsibility for a public role. A Pisces Sun in the same house brings imagination or concern for others into that role. A project lead might value building a dependable service, or shaping work around the people it helps.
These examples describe motives, not job titles. Follow Saturn for Capricorn and Jupiter, Pisces's traditional ruler, for further context.
These are illustrative chart combinations. The ruler of the Sun's sign is called its dispositor. The house ruler comes from the sign on the starting cusp. They can be different planets, so check both signs in your chart.

Read the factors together
Capricorn gives the Sun an emphasis on accountability. The 10th makes public responsibility the setting, and Saturn's trine adds persistence or structure. A coordinator who builds reliable processes illustrates the combination. The same role can become restrictive if every private preference must fit a professional identity.
Keep the distinction
In Placidus the Midheaven starts house 10, but a Sun within the house is not necessarily conjunct it. That requires the MC degree. Neither the house nor the trine promises promotion or status.
How angles and orbs workHow this fits into your full chart
The 10th house tells you which area of life is involved: public role. Sun brings its themes of purpose and identity into that area. Its sign adds how those themes are expressed.
Astriel uses Placidus by default. Each house begins at a calculated boundary, called a cusp, and ends at the next cusp. Use the house number beside the Sun in your chart.
Add your Sun sign
Find the Sun's sign in your chart's positions table and read it alongside this house placement. For instance, a planet in Aries emphasizes taking the first step; in Taurus, it emphasizes keeping a steady course.
Use the sign written beside the planet. A house can include more than one sign, so the sign at its beginning can differ from the planet's sign.
Find your Sun sign guideAspects explain how the planets interact
An aspect is an angle between two chart positions. Read the rows involving the Sun in your chart's aspect table. The other planet adds another need or concern to purpose and identity.
A square is usually read as a challenge in combining those needs. A trine suggests that they work together more easily. The orb tells you how far the angle is from exact; a smaller orb means a closer contact.
Learn to read aspects and orbsFollow the ruler of this house
The sign on the house's starting cusp has a ruling planet. Find that sign's traditional ruler, then look for the ruler in your chart. Its house connects the two areas of life.
For example, Leo on the 2nd-house cusp makes the Sun its ruler. If the Sun is in the 10th, a reading connects personal resources with public work.

What if my birth time is uncertain?
Astriel leaves houses unavailable for approximate or unknown times. A familiar description cannot resolve that uncertainty.
You can still read the Sun sign information supported by your entered birth period. Do not choose a house because its description sounds right.
Calculate the available Sun positionWhy does another site show a different house?
Compare the entered birth details, time zone, zodiac and house system. Astriel uses Placidus by default. Its calculated cusps determine the house containing Sun. A different house system can assign that position to another house.
Verify those settings before comparing interpretations. In Placidus, the Midheaven is the 10th cusp; a planet in that house is not automatically conjunct it.
Read the calculation methods and limitsDoes this describe my solar return?
No. This is the Sun's house at birth. A solar return uses a different chart for a later moment when the Sun returns to its natal longitude.
The natal house alone cannot identify a return date or its house placement. Astriel does not calculate solar returns on this page.
Is this a natal placement or a current transit?
This guide concerns the Sun in your birth chart. A current Sun transit and another person's Sun overlaid on your chart are different calculations.
Their house number alone does not make these readings interchangeable.
