What the Sun brings to this house
In the 7th, the Sun's theme of identity enters the field of one-to-one relationships, agreements, and open differences. A reader can examine how someone discovers a position of their own through meeting another person as an equal.
This does not mean the person is incomplete without a partner. Partnership can include collaboration, clients, or a sustained disagreement as well as romance. The interpretive tension is between being recognized by another person and allowing their approval to define every choice. The other person's actual behavior remains essential information.
How the sign changes the reading
An Aries Sun in the 7th brings initiative into an agreement: someone makes a clear proposal and asks for a response. A Libra Sun in the same house gives more attention to the balance between both people's wishes.
Either approach can support a partnership.
Follow Mars for Aries and Venus for Libra to examine how the person handles action or agreement elsewhere in the chart.
These are illustrative chart combinations. The ruler of the Sun's sign is called its dispositor. The house ruler comes from the sign on the starting cusp. They can be different planets, so check both signs in your chart.

Read the factors together
Libra brings attention to balance and competing perspectives. The 7th places the Sun in direct agreements, while Jupiter's trine adds openness to a wider view. Two collaborators may discover a better proposal through discussion, provided each says what they want before agreeing.
Keep the distinction
The 7th includes business partners and clients as well as romantic partners. It does not describe another person's character by itself. A trine can suggest ease in the symbolic reading without guaranteeing a fair agreement.
How angles and orbs workHow this fits into your full chart
The 7th house tells you which area of life is involved: one-to-one relationships. Sun brings its themes of purpose and identity into that area. Its sign adds how those themes are expressed.
Astriel uses Placidus by default. Each house begins at a calculated boundary, called a cusp, and ends at the next cusp. Use the house number beside the Sun in your chart.
Add your Sun sign
Find the Sun's sign in your chart's positions table and read it alongside this house placement. For instance, a planet in Aries emphasizes taking the first step; in Taurus, it emphasizes keeping a steady course.
Use the sign written beside the planet. A house can include more than one sign, so the sign at its beginning can differ from the planet's sign.
Find your Sun sign guideAspects explain how the planets interact
An aspect is an angle between two chart positions. Read the rows involving the Sun in your chart's aspect table. The other planet adds another need or concern to purpose and identity.
A square is usually read as a challenge in combining those needs. A trine suggests that they work together more easily. The orb tells you how far the angle is from exact; a smaller orb means a closer contact.
Learn to read aspects and orbsFollow the ruler of this house
The sign on the house's starting cusp has a ruling planet. Find that sign's traditional ruler, then look for the ruler in your chart. Its house connects the two areas of life.
For example, Leo on the 2nd-house cusp makes the Sun its ruler. If the Sun is in the 10th, a reading connects personal resources with public work.

What if my birth time is uncertain?
Astriel leaves houses unavailable for approximate or unknown times. A familiar description cannot resolve that uncertainty.
You can still read the Sun sign information supported by your entered birth period. Do not choose a house because its description sounds right.
Calculate the available Sun positionWhy does another site show a different house?
Compare the entered birth details, time zone, zodiac and house system. Astriel uses Placidus by default. Its calculated cusps determine the house containing Sun. A different house system can assign that position to another house.
Verify those settings before comparing interpretations. In Placidus, the Midheaven is the 10th cusp; a planet in that house is not automatically conjunct it.
Read the calculation methods and limitsDoes this describe my solar return?
No. This is the Sun's house at birth. A solar return uses a different chart for a later moment when the Sun returns to its natal longitude.
The natal house alone cannot identify a return date or its house placement. Astriel does not calculate solar returns on this page.
Is this a natal placement or a current transit?
This guide concerns the Sun in your birth chart. A current Sun transit and another person's Sun overlaid on your chart are different calculations.
Their house number alone does not make these readings interchangeable.
